The Everlasting Arms

Song writer, Elisha A. Hoffman reminds us of the everlasting arms –

“… What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. … Safe and secure from all alarms;… Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

When all other arms around us suddenly disappear we are assured that the everlasting arms of our Lord never fail, never grow weak of offering his unassailable comfort and support.  We can find that fortified strength and consolation in His everlasting arms.

Life in its pain, sorrows, trials and tribulations, it is in God’s everlasting arms that is ALWAYS there, EVER present, surrounding us, which provides that ultimate calm and peace beyond all human understanding. We grow up in families; we forge great relationships and would not trade them for anything, but the inevitables of life can rob us of the comfort and joy we experience from those of whom we have forged great associations and relationships. But when all mortal arms are no more, when our vulnerability gets the better of us, thank God that in the midst of all this His everlasting arms cannot fail! They are everlasting!
